Going on digital patrol:

The Digital Canopy wireless network will provide handheld wireless devices equipped with a traffic monitoring application to police officers working at today's Springtime Tallahassee festival, officials said Friday. Officers will use the wireless devices to input up-to-date information about parking and traffic in the area. The public can access the same information about parking and traffic, as well as schedules for the event, at Digital Canopy's kiosk next to the Springtime Tallahassee information booth or on-line at http://www.digitalcanopy.com/springtime.html. "Digital Canopy has been very successful downtown, but in the broader area of Tallahassee, folks really don't know much about us," said director Sarah Wilson. "This was a good way to get exposure." Digital Canopy is a pilot project, high-speed wireless Internet network that covers a four-block area near the Capitol. The Digital Canopy Resource Center is located at the corner of Jefferson and Monroe Streets.
